There's no One like God. He doesn't make mistakes. He doesn't disappoint or fail. His love is not conditional on what we do or how well we do it. He will love us the very way our heart cries out to be loved. He comes to give us back what we've lost or never had in a way that we've never known.

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.

What is mental illness?

It's feeling all alone in your suffering…It's knowing no one can really understand…It's finding no rest…It's confusion that blocks out reality…It's feeling worthless and a failure…It's seeing no way out…It's believing no one can help…It's thinking thoughts too strange to speak…It's feeling so different and misunderstood…It's feeling forever lost…It's feeling that dying may be the only answer…

Oh! What courage and strength is found in those who are fighting this battle!

We can find hope when our basic need to love and be loved is met. We need someone who will love us without judging. Someone who believes we can make it. Someone who listens and cares. Someone who tells us how wonderful we are and sees the best in us. Someone who will patiently teach us what we do not understand. And someone who will not leave us no matter what.

We can all have a Friend like this. His name is Jesus Christ. He will do for you what no one else can do. He thinks you are special enough to die for. He will never leave you or forsake you or let you down. He's always there right by your side. He listens to your every word and has collected all your tears in a bottle. He is able to help and is waiting for your permission to begin. He is the Great Physician and the Comforting Counselor. He is the One who planned you for a purpose and put you wonderfully together in your mother's womb.

Now all that seemed impossible is possible by leaning on His guidance and allowing the Great Physician to cleanse us of our fears and bind up our hurts with the salve of His unconditional love. Surrender to His ways and allow Him to do His work, trusting in His goodness and faithfulness. Get to know Him personally as your best Friend and run to Him when things get hard. You will be so glad you did. His mercy is never ending and His promises are sure. His answers come from infinite Wisdom and will light your path without error. He took the time and effort to write His many love letters to you and they can be found in what is called God's Word, the Bible. He answers your questions of how to live with meaning and hope and find the deepest desires of your heart. All your needs will be met as you come to know Jesus intimately as Savior and Master, who came to rescue and not rebuke. Rest can be found in Him.

We can realize peace for today, hope for tomorrow, and have assurance that all of our yesterdays are forever securely sealed in Jesus Christ's covering of forgiveness, mercy, and love.
