The holiday season is going to be awful this year. We have a dear family member who is angry and refuses to be part of our get together. I don’t like it.  It is so sad. What can I do to change it?

A sad and worried Mother went to talk to her Heavenly Father about her wayward child.  They always met in a beautiful garden and sat side by side on a bench in the shade of a mighty oak.  As she walked down the quiet path to their spot, she could see her Heavenly Father waiting patiently for her. No matter when she came, He was always there ready to listen and love.

“Dearest Heavenly Father,”

“Come here, precious one, and let Me hold you.”

“Hold me tight, Lord.”

“Just go ahead and cry, My dear child.  I know about it all.”

“Oh, God!  What can I do?”

“Sweet, sweet Mother, you are not finished crying.”  (So the Mother cries more as she buries herself in her Father’s tender arms.)

“Oh, Lord, help me.”

“To do what?”

“Help me to help my child.”

“That’s not your job.  I am the One Who helps, Who heals, Who knows the heart’s needs.”

“What do I do?”

“Wait on Me.  Wait and pray.  Pray and wait.  Wait expectantly. Wait prayerfully.  Allow Me to do My work.  Give Me time and space to do what needs to be done.”

The Mother, yet again, entrusted her child and her every care to the One Who loves us best and is utterly trustworthy.
