"Instead of wasting our lives pursuing what we think will make us happy, we should concentrate on the things that money can’t buy – the things God gives us freely."
–From God’s Best for Your Success

"Hey there!...Are you penniless? Come anyway – buy and eat!…Buy without money – every thing is free! Why do you spend your money on junk food, your hard-earned cash on cotton candy? Listen to Me, listen well: Eat only the best, fill yourself with only the finest. Pay attention, come close now, listen carefully to My life-giving, life-nourishing words."
– Isaiah 55:1-4

Question of the Month

If you have a question that you would like addressed, or have comments or suggestions, please let me hear from you. Contact: carolyn@hopeandassurance.com

I’m really not happy. I work hard and try to do what’s right. My marriage is so-so. Life just goes on the same day after day. I guess I’m in a rut and don’t know how to get out of it. Do you have any inexpensive ideas that might perk things up?

My suggestion is for you; but, you may decide to include your husband.  If you have children, you may want them to do this also.  It does require being honest and getting in touch with your true feelings. Here goes:

What are three things you could start doing that would improve the quality of your life?  (Because we are wanting quality of life, this would never include illegal or immoral ideas or anything that would violate the trust another person has placed in us.)

Although very simple, this activity reminds us that we are responsible for ourselves.  It also reinforces the fact that many times little things can make a big difference.  Although this one question is for all of us, each of our answers will be unique and personal.

Helping someone we care about fulfill their three things can also benefit us. We may discover that giving, without expecting anything in return, has a way of meeting our own desires.

I challenge you to begin satisfying your own individual needs and find pleasure in being who you are!
