Hope and AssuranceThis website was created for those acquainted with mental illness and in need of hope and assurance. AboutCarolyn Reese is the author of the book, Light of My Darkness. It is a message of hope and faith that abounds with inspirational analogies and helpful coping strategies gained from years of firsthand experience as a sufferer of mental illness. It will inspire anyone acquainted with mental illness. She now lives in victory over mental illness after struggling thirty years to find answers and help. She is a teacher who has worked in public and private school and children and youth treatment facilities. She has experience in general and special education with elementary, junior high and high school students. Because of the devastating effects of mental illness, her marriage ended after eighteen years. She spent the next fifteen years unraveling the huge mess of her life. She faced such things as anger and unforgiveness toward her parents, children who were angry and bitter because they blamed her for a difficult childhood, a son who followed his friends into drugs, the loss of her first teaching job, a one year stay in a mental hospital as a sixteen year old, and two subsequent hospital stays as a wife and mother. She is a fighter and overcomer and wants to help you to be the same. She gives all the credit to Jesus Christ. It was not possible to turn her life around without Him.
