25 Thoughts That Encourage Excellent Mental Health
- You are your responsibility. Change begins with you. That’s an honor.
- Concentrate on your strengths and what you can do rather than your weaknesses and what you cannot do.
- Repeat again and again what you are doing and who you are with when you are occupied with thoughts and activities that encourage the best in you.
- Have a role model and mentor. Listen to her. Learn from him.
- Praise God for Who He is and recount all the ways He has been there for you. This can be the most effective way to calm fears and be at peace.
- Don’t try to be perfect. It will only make you feel wrong all the time.
- Look back to the past to learn from it. Anything more is only a hindrance at best.
- Let God love and forgive you so that you may give the same blessing to others.
- Choose carefully the thoughts you allow in your mind. They will determine what you will experience in your mood and behavior.
- Learn to speak words of compassion, kindness, forgiveness, and love to yourself.
- Manage stress appropriately. Physical exercise, adequate rest, good nutrition, and laughter are musts in maintaining emotional well-being.
- Learn to take action. Doing something, no matter how small or mundane, energizes and empowers us to do even more.
- Let Sunday be given to God and rest. This will renew, refresh, and prepare you for the challenges of the week.
- Take time to think rather than just react. You can learn to choose your actions and responses with wisdom and foresight.
- Study the Bible. Listen to uplifting music. Go to worship. Read inspiring books. Pray. These habits will help transform your personality and character.
- Choose friends who know God and are led by His spirit. They will demonstrate God’s character to you and help you love and trust again.
- Be honest with yourself and others. Healing can only begin with honesty.
- Do hard things. Success breeds success and doing hard things creates self-esteem.
- Talk to someone you trust about your fears and worries. They may need to be looked at from a new perspective for accuracy and reality.
- No matter how hard it gets, remember God is faithful and He is for you.
- Volunteer. When we give ourselves away to others, we may find ourselves.
- Medication may be God’s gift to you for a time. Healing cannot be put in a box.
- Learn to really listen without judging. It is one of the greatest acts of love and respect we can give others but many people never experience it.
- Accept life’s unfairness as a fact of life and look for the unexpected gifts.
- Know that life is not about you and what you want. It’s about loving God first and others second. Then everything else will fall in place.
